The other day, I had this idea for helping health care reform get through the Finance Committee. It involved superheroes.
With that introduction, I give you: Captain Ineffective!
The general idea is to make fun of Max Baucus for letting Republicans in the Gang of Six hold health care reform hostage. Obviously, I have no talent as a cartoonist (it's all computer-generated avatars) but I'm hoping that the mere existence of something like this will speak for itself.
It's intensely frustrating to watch Baucus try to do the bipartisan thing with a bunch of Republican Senators whose only real fear is losing their primary to Deathers. The thing yesterday where Johnny Isakson had to backtrack from his entirely correct comment calling out Sarah Palin for pushing the "death clinics" rumor was a grim example.
Hopefully the general attitude will move from frustration to ridicule, if it's not there already. That's the attitude that I'm hoping our Senators will have when the recess ends and things get back in session. If this site can make the slightest contribution to that, I'll be really proud.
(And even if not, the world needed a graphic where Rush Limbaugh was leading a vast army of skeletons.)
