I honestly was not expecting this and reading it kind of sent a chill down my spine because Mike Huckabee's idea trumps even the most radical ideas on how to solve the I/P conflict we've heard:
Former US presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee said Tuesday there is no room for a Palestinian state "in the middle of the Jewish homeland" and that Israel should be able to build settlements wherever it wants.
It continues:
Speaking to a small group of foreign reporters in Jerusalem, Huckabee, seen as a possible Republican presidential candidate in 2012, said the international community should consider establishing a Palestinian state some place else.
He seems to throw a bone to the "one-state solution" proponents by arguing that a two-state solution in "greater Israel" is impossible, though, as seen above, his remedy to the situation is cringeworthy:
"The question is should the Palestinians have a place to call their own? Yes, I have no problem with that. Should it be in the middle of the Jewish homeland? That's what I think has to be honestly assessed as virtually unrealistic," he said.
This is the most radical I/P position yet from a mainstream politician, especially one considered a strong candidate for president in 2012. The idea of a Palestinian state in a different area than the West Bank, Gaza, and possibly East Jerusalem is so incredibly far from Obama's plan, the Saudi plan, even the Netanyahu plan and Avigdor Lieberman's plan.
No idea yet where Huckabee wants to move the Palestinian people, right now it's simply "some place else." I don't know where this idea came from, but it sets in motion a need to make sure Huckabee never reaches the White House, because a plan like this, even if it's just a 'plan' and no steps are taken to implement it, will lead to nothing but violence, hatred, and strife.
