I've become more militant in my backing of this administration as I watch Republicans act like idiots as they try to kill whatever the latest White House initiative is... oh yeah, health care reform. Bipartisanship? If I can allow an old friend to rear his ugly head for a sec, "Fuck bipartisanship." I was all about a new kind of politics for what... nine months or so, but if you don't want a new kind of politics, fine. Grab your ankles, Republicans.
(My apologies to those who take a personal offense at the insinuation that ankle-grabbing is a bad thing. We've had this discussion before...)
For 8 long, long years, you screwed this nation into the ground. Your president used the blood of a few thousand dead Americans to grease the wheels of his neoconservative agenda, and you went along with it. Your president made the rich richer and the poor poorer not through what each group deserved or earned, but through cronyism fed by corruption and greed... all the while daring to call anyone who disagreed "un-American?" Heh. Heheh. Take a pull. You ran the country for 8 years and you fucked it up. You couldn't protect the country from a terrorist attack that left 3,000 dead. We threw away 5,000+ lives after that in the unnecessary Iraq war. We're in this recession solely due to the policies of the previous administration. Go sit in the corner and let the latte-sipping, tofu-farting intellectual elitists have their turn. The rednecks couldn't git 'er done.
So now, I'm hoping that this latest attempt at bipartisanship... layed to waste by the likes of Grassley (as he freely admits!) may be the last. I'm hoping not for four years, but for eight years of jamming every conceivable and preferably incredibly annoying piece of progressive legislation down your throats. How much has the Iraq war cost so far? Nearly $700B? That's a lot of money... especially for a war of choice, not necessity.
I guess what I'm trying to say is this: I'm not going to try to convert any of you. Frankly, I don't care. Frankly, your vote doesn't count right now. It's a shitty feeling, huh? Enjoy, and take solace in the fact that our annoying choices will be in an earnest attempt to better the lives of every American (yeah, with your tax dollars, hahaha!), as opposed to lining the pockets of the undeserving few at the top (yeah, with your 401k, hahaha!)... at the expense of the blood and treasure of our great nation.
Peace out.
