Reminiscent of the continued racist attacks on President Obama's "citizenship" and "eugenics plan," the editor of the Swedish newspaper that published a blood libel against Jews in Israel is standing by the article that accused Israeli Jews of killing Palestinians to harvest their organs. The two slanders are similar in that both continue despite zero evidence whatsoever, rather only the idea of "but you never know:"
"I'm not a Nazi," Aftonbladet editor Jan Helin wrote. "I'm not anti-Semitic."
Instead, he described himself as "a responsible editor who gave the green light to an article because it raises a few questions." He did note, however, that the paper had no evidence that such horrific practices were being carried out.
Compare that to the racist filth Glenn Beck puts out, where he may never flat out accuse Obama of wanting eugenics, but says along the lines of "I'm not saying Obama wants to do this, but it's possible..."
And just like Glenn Beck, this Swedish newspaper keeps digging deeper:
On Sunday, Aftonbladet published a follow-up article, defending the offending report written by freelance journalist Donald Bostrom. The second article maintained that the organ-harvesting matter "should be investigated, either to stop the relentless Palestinian rumors, or, if the rumors prove to be true, stop the trade in body parts."
Of course, Helin knows that it's these kinds of unsubstantiated rumors that lead to violence against Jews around the world, especially during times of economic downturn and worldwide disease (H1N1), when Jews normally get blamed for all the world's problems.
Jews in Israel are not standing by idly in response to this:
The article set off a media frenzy in Israel, where the article's author has been accused of disseminating "a blood libel" against the Jews.
Dozens of demonstrators gathered on Monday outside the Swedish embassy in Tel Aviv in protest of Stockholm's ongoing refusal to condemn the article, Army Radio reported.
They waved Matzos [pieces of unleavened bread] smeared with red paint, alluding to the common Medieval blood libel. They also set up a mock market stall with a banner "Palestinian organs on sale here."
Let's all stand with them.
