I would.
As it is, I'll instead just say that I am curious to see where Meteor Blades' rec-listed thoughts will lead...
I posted a few times, months ago, about what I saw as a disturbing "mob rules" approach, otherwise called community-policing, that was allowing a real devolution in the overall caliber of discourse. My point was that otherwise admired diarists were allowed to be ham-handed in how they deal with anyone they felt deserved it... including telling diarists like myself to "go away". And what did I post to earn such invective? Well, honestly I don't even recall - but it was no where near the kind of crap MB is trying to address.
And I might add that it was not a little disheartening to see the vast majority of responses to my few diaries on the issue focus on lecturing me on how DKos is a private entity and basically dismiss my "concern" as troll-dom or chicken-littleness.
Sorry folks, I was right then, and I still am.
Am I gloating? No. Honestly, truthfully, no.
I am simply responding to what I see as a hairline fracture in the foundation of something really great: DKos.
If you still think it's mere over-reaction on my part, OK. Whatever.
I'll check back again in a few months and we'll see if there's been progress or digression.
Oh, and by the way and for the record, I made a lot of effort to make suggestions and/or generate honest discussion on the issue - both on the existence of a problem but also on potential solutions. No such honest discussion was ever even remotely entertained by any of the so-called front-page crew.
Like I said then, it may not be an urgent issue. But it is critical, because if ensuring and protecting the willingness of strangers to speak up and not just lurk is not critical to a blog site, private entity or otherwise, then nothing is.
