I've graduated law school making my screen name a misnomer,I have yet to find work. I often turn to this community for advice and this is no exception.
I've been looking for work quite a while, I've sent out more then 50 resumes, most of the time I don't even get a rejection, they just don't respond. I'm also in what people think of as pre-lawyer limbo; I've taken the bar exam, in August, but will not know my results till November and if I passed I will be eligible for admission at the beginning of next year. At that point I can take on my own work and contract work till then I have to work for someone else.
Additionally, I am planning on attending Tim Bishop's town hall on August 27, the teabaggers will be there and I need to be prepared.
My difficulties in finding work stem from some things that are my fault and some things that are outside of my control.
Here is my situation; I graduated at the bottom of my law school class from St. John's University in 2009, my GPA at the end of law school was 2.37. If this was the only scenario I would have difficulty finding a job but would not be faced with the near impossibility, that currently afflicts me.
My real problem stems from the fact that my father has been indicted on 62 counts of mortgage fraud, grand larceny and conspiracy to defraud. I realize that this information could lead someone to uncharitably discover my identity. Please don't if someone posts my identity I'll simply delete this diary. Furthermore, though I worked in my father's office I never dealt with any of the transactions that the District Attorney has brought forth in the criminal complaint. I have not been charged with any crime nor have I been subpeonaed as a witness.
My father was a democratic politician for many years on Long Island, and had a position in the county legislator through the end of the 90s and into the early Bush years.
Thus, my family name is now infamous, I'm going to continue looking for a legal position, but this week I'm going to find a job driving pizza, being a cashier or bussing tables but I still need to keep looking for a legal job even if it's a volunteer position.
I live on Long Island and can't afford to move but I could easily make to Queens, Brooklyn or even Manhatten but I would need to make some money to pay for the commute.
Here's my resume, with the identifying information taken out. The first job listed under experience was at my father's office.

Now to the second issue
My congresscritter is Tim Bishop, Tim's a decent guy with a progressive record. Last time he had a town hall the Teabaggers pulled thisshit. I want to know how to help prevent it from happening again. I need some tactics for these ambushers for Bishop's August 27 townhall.
