Well everyone, this is my first diary, though I have lurked at Daily Kos for ages.
This is why:
This is my first day of posting after lurking
Check how old my ID is. I'm very upset, this is the most counterproductive flaming ever on this site. I'm standing up for a progressive future, and I want all purity trolls to just stop and get something positive done.
I am 18 and have been involved in politics since I was 10, after the first "election" of Bush. I have a future to look forward to, and I don't want global warming to destroy it because we don't think ACES is good enough and therefore we must destroy it.

Anyway, we have some news out of Europe that seems to coincide with the Attorney General's new probe. Specifically Lithuania.
From the BBC:
Lithuania is launching an inquiry into allegations that it hosted a secret CIA prison for al-Qaeda suspects.
President Dalia Grybauskaite said that the inquiry would be conducted by a special parliamentary commission.
All well and good. Lithuania was definitely one of the Eastern European countries (along with Poland and Romania) that were reported on by Human Rights Watch for being murky collaborators with the Vader plan for detainees. But,
Lithuania is the third European country to face accusations of hosting CIA prisons after Poland and Romania.
All three have denied the allegations.
Still, at least Lithuania is investigating. The BBC says that at issue is Europe's willingness to take Gitmo prisoners without reckoning their own past.
Maybe, maybe not. A quick look at the current governments of the three countries will tell you they are all center-right. They all want to keep their good standing, but they all want to clear their own names from the dirty list.
Apparently, Poland and Romania
Both have launched their own inquiries, while insisting they never hosted secret CIA prisons.
I think they're just trying to weasel out of this New Age of Accountability. They probably can't do it forever.
