This diary will be short. Sorry. But I just had to say something.
I forced myself to watch Glenn Beck today to find out what he would have to say about the death of Senator Ted Kennedy. What happened?
Nothing but crickets.
Glenn Beck is a hypocrite and he proved that today.
Why? He could not take one second of his program to mention the death of the longest serving Massachusetts Senator. He could not take one minute to even recognize that it had occurred.
As someone who cries at the drop of the hat and talks about compassion and love of country ad nauseum, it was certainly quite disturbing that Glenn Beck could not even bring himself to reference Ted Kennedy's death. What a hypocrite.
For Glenn Beck, it was just another day in crazyland. What was so important today that Glenn Beck could not mention the most important news story of the week, month, and even one of the most important stories this year? (1) Going on and on about Obama's supposed radicalism; (2) Engaging in a completely confusing discussion about czars; (3) Having Rush Limbaugh on so Rush and Glenn could tell each other how much they love each other and how right they are about Obama's radical ways; and (4) admonishing Americans that "your freedom is at stake!" (insert vague generalities meant to scare and evoke anger: e.g. - "they're building something - a machine of some type - I don't know what it is").
I know, I know, I should not be surprised in the least. I should not be shocked. But Glenn Beck and Fox News have gone too far once again. Of course, Beck already went too far when he called Obama a racist - and he is paying for that - thankfully.
Still, I cannot believe that that a man who professes to love his country and believe in "family values" etc. would blatantly and insensitively ignore the death of a man who served his country and was involved in public service for 47 years.
Mr. Beck: You have demonstrated your hypocrisy today.
You may not agree with Senator Ted Kennedy; he may represent everything you despise. But an iconic figure died yesterday. A Kennedy died. A man who served his country for nearly half a century died. Have some respect and compassion and at least acknowledge that this event has occurred. Then you can go back to your altered reality. But at least show some class. Some humanity.
And yet I am sure that I am asking much too much from you.
