Hey folks,
I was recently asked by the Nation Institute to make a short video to draw attention to an excellent story about Fiji Water by Anna Lenzer that's in this month's Mother Jones. I think the video turned out pretty well so I'm posting it here. Hope you like it and if you do, check out Anna's story.
(Transcript posted below, for those without video)
We see the Ocean and a bottle of Fiji Water, with STYLIZED TEXT of the voice over FADING IN and OUT.
VOICE OVER: Fiji Water is America’s leading imported bottled water. Its makers have spent millions marketing it as a progressive, green product. Paris Hilton, Diddy, Lindsay Lohan, even President Obama are happy customers.
FADE IN on LINDSAY LOHAN drinking FIJI water.
VOICE OVER: But, would they drink it if they knew that Fiji Water bottles use twice the plastic of other major water brands?
LOHAN does a spit take, water splashes everywhere.
CUT TO: DIDDY drinking FIJI.
VOICE OVER: That many residents of Fiji don’t have access to potable water – and the islands are often plagued by drought?
DIDDY spits the water out, drops the bottle.
CUT TO: Paris Hilton sipping FIJI with her little dog.
VOICE OVER: That Fiji Water Company enjoys perks such as tax-free status from a repressive military junta?
PARIS spits the water in the DOG’s face. The DOG yalps and runs off.
CUT TO: PRESIDENT OBAMA slowly raising a bottle of FIJI to his mouth. A SECRET SERVICE AGENT stands next to him.
VOICE OVER: And that very junta abolished the judiciary, banned many public gatherings, and clamped down on the media – spying on and arresting an American reporter who was there to report on Fiji Water?
The AGENT LEAPS in front of the bottle, knocking it out of his hand, water splashes everywhere.
BLACK OUT- with text and MOTHER JONES and INVESTIGATIVE FUND graphics.
