A lot of attention has been rightly directed toward getting real public option healthcare reform passed in Senator Kennedy’s name, but there’s also one other crucial piece of reform that should also be enacted: amnesty for illegal aliens.
Senator Kennedy was a staunch supporter of immigration reform, starting with the 1965 Immigration Law. And let us not forget that Senator Kennedy and John McCain almost succeeded in with immigration reform in 2007 – falling just seven votes short of the 60 needed to break a filibuster due to Republican fear mongering.
It’s time to get an immigration reform bill written and passed this year. In the name of Senator Kennedy.
