From Wiki:
Robert Lauransom 'Rob' Miller was the Democratic nominee for the United States House of Representatives from South Carolina's 2nd congressional district in 2008. He will also be running for Congress in 2010 in South Carolina's Second Congressional District. Miller served 13 years in the United States Marine Corps, including two tours of duty in the Iraq War.
As of October 23, 2008, Miller had raised about $500,000, approximately half as much as Wilson. In the November 4 election, Wilson was reelected after Miller gained 46.4 percent of the vote.
Sitting here tonite I see that donations thru Act Blue has raised over $657,000 in donations for Rob Miller. As of the writing of this diary, Kossack donations are at $214,155.66 If you haven't made a donation yet, go immediately to Act Blue.
While this is certainly good news for John McCain, but bad news for Graves Addison Wilson.
Meanwhile, Charlie Cook,, has moved the race in South Carolina's 2nd Congressional District from "solid" for Wilson to "likely."
Cook added: Ratings Change: SC-02 Moves to the Likely Republican Column Some news accounts have noted South Carolina GOP Rep. Joe Wilson faces a "tough race" in 2010. Not so fast -- this conservative seat remains relatively secure for the GOP, even after Wilson's outburst. After all, Democrat Rob Miller's 46 percent showing in 2008 was largely attributable to Obama's strong 45 percent in the state, a factor Miller won't enjoy again. Instead, this looks like simply more of a distraction for the GOP. Wilson's remark itself isn't likely to be a huge problem for him 14 months from now, but the instant cash it has generated should make Miller one of Democrats better-funded challengers next year.
Satement to CNN by Rob Miller on last nights Old Yeller event:
Representative Wilson’s behavior tonight exemplifies everything that is wrong in Washington," Miller said in a statement to CNN. "Instead of engaging in childish name-calling and disrespecting our Commander-in-Chief, Joe Wilson should be working towards a bipartisan solution that makes quality, affordable health care available to each and every South Carolinian."snip

From an article Miller wrote on Huffington before the 2008 election:
I never thought I would run for Congress -- or feel like I had to. I have always thought of myself as a Marine. I started thinking that way not long after my father died when I was 14 years old. Since I enlisted at the age of 20, the Marine Corps has been my extended family and I couldn't imagine that would ever change.
But it did after my second tour of duty in Iraq -- where I fought to maintain the peace, but also to enable Iraqis to build better schools, improved hospitals, to help create jobs and, where possible, a stable economy and civil society.
When I returned home to my wife and six year old son, I saw that the politicians in Washington were not fighting for these same things at home. Worse, the congressman who represented the second district where I live -- Rep. Joe Wilson -- was part of that elite circle of George Bush loyalists who chose to enact a radical agenda, never mind the lives and wellbeing of the constituents he was pledged to represent.
