What have been the Republican talking points on why we can't possibly have a public option:
-It will put a bureaucrat between you and your doctor.
-It will create death panels.
-It will lead to rationing with the government deciding who gets covered and who doesn't.
-Private insurance can't compete with an unfair advantage by government.
-Mandatory sex change operations and abortions
-Undocumented immigrants(which they refer to as illegal aliens)will be covered.
The last item has gotten a lot more attention with the Palmetto punk yelling "liar" at the President, apologizing and then running out fundraising and gathering support from other yahoos. And of course, some of the more weasly Democrats have given credence to this promising to fix in the Senate what was never there in the first place. And how do they propose to fix this? By putting enforcement teeth in the legislation. How exactly? By making people prove legal status before getting health care?
Or by making their precious insurance companies check legal status? Talk about a bureaucratic nightmare.
If the Democrats can't seize the ball on this one, they don't deserve to get anything passed. They should be out on the talk shows howling their heads off about doctors being turned into immigration officers and unable to practice medicine. They should enlist the help of some doctors to publicly complain about not wanting to have their doctor-patient relationship by being required to ask people if they're in the country illegally. Some real Americans should be featured saying they don't want to go to doctor if they're going to be hounded to produce paperwork. And since this will likely cost more that should be addressed as well. Put the GOP on the defensive for a change. They deserve it and in the meantime, if they have to spend their time explaining what they mean, they'll have less to raise other phony arguments.
