Rush said "I hope Obama Fails..." He flat out lied when he said "... They didn't give Bush a chance in 2000. Before he was inaugurated the search-and-destroy mission had begun...."
Americans including many Democrats gave Bush a 90 % approval rating right after 911 (9/25/2001). His ratings stayed above 50% until April of 2005 (4/21/2005)
The venom and meanness which spews from these folks is scary.
... FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they're calling the "09.12.09 March on Washington..."
"First the IRS, Post Office, and Now Health Care"
"Obamacare makes me sick,"
...while others pointed toward a fear of oncoming communism with slogans such as
"The new green is the old red"
"One czar down. 32 to go. Thank you Glenn Beck."
Birthers
Glenn Beck and his 912ers calling Obama a Communist or Socialist.
Al Cross wrote in the Louisville Courier Journal "Obama hatred growing in state (KY)"
"...If there was any doubt that emotional hatred of President Obama has poisoned our political process, a Republican congressman proved it Wednesday night by yelling "You lie" during Obama's health care speech to Congress.
South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson's unprecedented outburst, which he blamed on emotion, landed him on Democrats' 2010 election target list. Maybe he should move to Kentucky, where hatred of Obama, and the ignorance, suspicion and fear that feed it, have been much in evidence this month.
First came the Daily Kos-Research 2000 poll that showed only about half of Kentuckians, 51 percent, said they believed that Obama was born in the United States. (The error margin was plus or minus 4 points.) "Not sure" ranked second, at 29 percent. Among Republicans, the main results were 30 percent yes, 36 percent no. If the poll had asked about Obama's religion, many would have said he is a Muslim..."
In my opinion, this irrational hatred has a racial foundation for some. Other right wing Republicans believe they are entitled to have a Republican President. They never accepted Clinton and they will never accept Obama.
They are basically undemocratic. The bottom line is Republicans lost in a fair election. If there was a thought of compromise, it would be 80 % our agenda and 20% theirs - Not 50 50.
Any hope of being Bipartisan is out the window. I am not saying we should name call and be equally as disagreeable. We should always try to rationally discuss issues without being personal.
The irony is many of the haters are probably part of the Religious Right.
They should read their own Good Book:
James 1:19 "My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, "
James 3:5 "Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark."
James 3:6 "The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell."
Whow, Them's scary fighting words that the Rush's and Beck's of the World should heed.
