Our president insists at every instance of offering his opinion on health care reform that "His" plan would let that majority of Americans who like their current "employer based" private insurance keep what they have. Several of the current proposals that include a so called "Public Option" insist that those with "employer based" private insurance keep what they have whether they like it or not.
My family's Health care savings account of $2500 was depleted by early august, and that was before my wife had minor knee surgery. The rest was for drugs, routine testing and office visits. In my opinion, if you haven't paid at least $1000 out of pocket you're opinion on your coverage is like someone who has never been in a car accident saying they like their car insurance because the lizard is cute. How would they know?
I've been under employer based "for profit" health insurance my entire life (I'm 61) and by increments it has become more expensive with less coverage every year, and nothing I hear proposed will stop this trend. I have never had an employer offer a choice of companies providing this private coverage. There is no competition for my health care dollar, only the gouging corporate greed of an industry that spends more on buying political influence than the GNP of most nations in the world. (I just made this up, I get worked up and don't take the time to research such claims, a trait that is rewarded quite handsomely in the Fox universe. But, it sounds plausible if you already agree with me.)
There is but one solution. Capital punishment for Corporate Greed Now. Put the Profiteering Insurance industry out of our misery. Demand that "We the people" be the single payer for our own health care. It would not be communism it would be democracy!
