Do you love pooties? Then vote for them!!! Our pooties are seriously lagging behind those woozles, let's give them a nudge, make some healthy competition here! Woozles are winning by a wide margin, let's make it at least respectable. I know we have lots of pootie lovers here, let's not hide. Get out there and vote for pooties!
TGIF so that we can cat blog!!! Share your pootie pix in the comments, and tell me what kind of camera you used. I want to see lots of pix! Woozles too, and other animals.
That's just a meezer teazer. Lots of pix below the fold!
I got a new camera a few months ago - a Nikon D90 with a sweet fast prime (50mm f1.4). I've been learning how to use this monster-truck-size camera, and here are some of my best pootie pix so far.
Let's start of with an introduction, this is Senator Al Franken! Yep, I named my new show kitten after the newest US Senator, and I call him Senator for short, and sometimes "hey Frankenmonster":
This is the Senator with his brother, Congressman Al Gore, yawning:
Why did I demote Al Gore? Well, I named the Senator first, and then I was calling his brother "Congressman," you know, as in "hey Senator and Congressman, give me those claws to clip." I just couldn't think of a Congressman that I really like enough to name a cat after (big surprise there), and my other favorite politician is Al Gore, and sure enough, Al Gore was once a Congressman! I don't know, I might change it. I haven't sent in his paperwork yet so I can call him something else. But I kind of like having two Al's. Anyhow, here's one more of the brothers, my two-headed-monster-cat picture that can beat any crashing squirrel:
A little fuzzy because I barely had time to get the camera into position; they moved milliseconds after the shot.
Last March and April, I posted diaries showing these two boys as babies, now they are 6 month old monsters!
Here they are as newborns.
Here they are at two weeks.
And here they are at four weeks.
Sniff! It seems it was just yesterday they were learning to poo in the litter box. BTW, mom Effie is due any minute with her 2nd litter. She's making me crazy with the waiting.
Just so you know, I take pictures of cats other than my own! Here are a bunch to enjoy. This is my sister's American Bobtail, Max. Max's nickname is Maxipad:
And here's Max doing his best imitation of a baby seal:
My friend's Devon Rex:
Same friend's red tabby Persian:
And here are some cats seen at CFA's National Capital Cat Show in Chantilly VA last weekend.
Bicolor Oriental:
Persian:
Egyptian Mau:
Same Egyptian Mau:
Blue Abyssinian:
And here is the cat that was Best Cat in Championship at the show, a ruddy Abyssinian:
And last but not least, my buddy Itsy Bear! This was taken with my Canon SX200. Itsy is the dad of Senator Al Franken and Congressman Al Gore seen up top:
That's all the pix for today! You can see all of these and a bunch of cool butterfly shots on my flickr page. And hey, if you are in NYC or can get to NYC, come to the Meet The Breeds event at the Javitz center on October 17th and 18th. It's a gathering of all the CFA and AKC breeds of pooties and woozles. You'll be able to meet them, pet them, handle them, and learn all about them. I'll be there in the Siamese booth with my monster-truck-size camera.
Remember to vote, vote early, and vote often!
