So I'm up way too early, and I don't have to go to Rosh Hashanah services for a couple hours, so I thought I'd do a college football preview.
To be honest there aren't a ton of good games this weekend. It happens.
Thursday night GT At Miami game might end up being the best of the week. I'm a fan of GT, not that I cheer for them week in and week out, but it's fun watching the triple option. Miami showed they're for real by beating them. Miami still has a lot of tests left, but after beating FSU and GT they are well on the way to getting hyped like it's the mid-90's.
Later today the game I'll be watching will be NU at VT. First, it's the only game left with two ranked teams. Second, I really want to see Nebraska lose. I know a lot of husker fans, and there might be a few here, but the ones I know are cocky sons of bitches. They think they will run away in the north, and refuse to admit the team's shortcomings. Nebraska has huge problems at LB, WR and depth problems at OL and RB. I see VT running all over them, but without a passing game VT could be in trouble. I want to see VT win big, but NU could also end up pulling out the upset.
Here are a couple quick hits on interesting games.
TTU at Texas is pure revenge. TTU is underrated as usual this time of year. It happens when people consider your offense to be a gimmick, but there is something to say about being able to put out 4,000 yard passers year after year. TTU ruined the Longhorns' national title ambitions last year, and are looking for more than a win, they want a beat down. I see it happening too, Texas is just too good for TTU to keep up with this year unless something really weird happens, IMO.
FSU at BYU should be fun. if BYU gtes past this game they have a real shot at a BCS game. FSU isn't ranked, but it's florida state. I see BYU winning, simply because they're at home and every game for BYU is a playoff game.
Utah at Oregon, how the mighty have fallen. I think Oregon is very underrated. They looked inept so far this year, but they have too much talent to keep losing like this. This is my upset game on the week, if I was a betting man I'm taking the ducks and the points in Eugene.]
Georgia at Arkansas is interesting to say the least. Georgia can't seem to score, arkansas can't seem to stop people. I'm going Georgia here, but more for personal reasons. Similar to NU fans, Arky fans have pissed me off I pick against them most weeks just to annoy them.
Furman at MIzzou should be a blowout. MIzzou is my alma matter, and i'm not ashamed to call myself a huge homer. This is simply a paycheck for win type matchup - so if the tigers' backups don't get a ton of plays this week something is wrong.
