For those of you who want a break from the stress and conflicts of the week, and to commune on the tubez with fellow beastie lovers, it is time for today's Pootie Diary (for those who don't, please move along).
First, in honor of Woden's Day, a picture of Odin riding his 8-legged horse into Valhalla on a Norse picture-stone now in the Gotland Historical Museum (they let you take pictures there!):
More Norse Crittur pictures (and others) below the fold.
My lovely wife and I recently returned from our somewhat impromptu Scandanavian vacation. It was originally going to be a Baltic Capitals cruise, but that was over-booked, so we accepted incentives to switch to a different cruise next year, and had less than a week to come up with a new itinerary. One of the places we visited that we loved the best was the Old City of Visby on the island of Gotland, and that was the only place we saw any pooties on our trip, like this cute calico (reminded us of Shiner):
...and this cutie:
We also saw up close on the street the totem animal of Gotland, a Hedgehog:
Sheep are also very important on Gotland, and they use stone ones to guard the narrow cobblestone streets where they do not want cars.
We saw a lot of pooches on the trip, but they were on leashes and I felt hesitant to take any pictures, though I did get this one:
...and this one in Rosenborg Castle:
To make up for the lack of pootie & woozle pix from this trip, I will throw in these from last year's trip to Ireland (after all, the Vikings certainly spent time there!):
There is no crittur in this pic - I was trying to get the profile of the Angel on the top of St. Mary's Cathedral, but instead it just ended up a nice shot of the sunset over Visby:
And we got this other nice sunset shot over Visby:
Though we had a wonderful time on the trip, we were happy to return home to our own bed, and our own wonderful pooties:
