They are trying to turn Iran into the greatest threat on earth, just like Iraq, oh yeah and Afghanistan, and Vietnam, and Korea... Who else do we need to bomb again? Why are we always being baited into battle by our media regardless of the reality of the threat. How ridiculous is it to be threatened by Iran after staring down the USSR for 50 years with thousands of ICBM's pointed at each other on a hair trigger replete with fleets of bombers and submarines just in case the missiles did not get the job done. After that we suppose to be afraid of a nation so backwards it can't even manage to produce it's own gasoline? A nation that they say is 15 years away from even producing an ICBM.
Meanwhile the supposedly threatened nation of Israel has a loads of nuclear weapons that can hit Europe, but pay no mind to their internal political instability caused by a large oppressed population waiting for a chance to take back their land.
I suppose it would be appropriate to take some quotes from MSNBC Morning Joe to demonstrate what drove me into an unapologetic rant. They spent about hours on it today that I wish was spent on the G20 talk of reforming the worlds financial system.
This only bolsters the case they have been making for some time to launch some kind of air strike against Iran's nuclear facilities the US has held them back up until now
In recent discussions they have had with officials they seem to be getting closer and closer to this idea that they are going to launch some kind of air strike. Jim Miklaszeqski pentagon correspondent
Sadly best quotes were not in my video buffer. Mika Brzezinski referred to Iran as the "greatest threat in the world" at one point. I was happy to see them tone things down as the news grew older. Prior to 7pm EST they were beating the war drums as if enriching Uranium was declaration of war. As if they have not been at this for years now. What ever happened to the sovereignty of nations anyway? They want us to think it is serious so we will agree to more war due to all the scary "THREATS" at our door step. There is no existential threat to anyone except Iran who has to deal with it every day. It's regional rival is armed with hundreds of nukes only to be out done by the thousands in the arsenal of it's closest ally.
We should be tired of seeing the media play games with us, trying to manufacture consent for war. We all should resist this manipulative and apparent attempt to manufacture support for violence against other nations that pose no legitimate threat. We don't need to bomb people because we don't agree with who they elect, or their elected officials say something stupid. Is it too much to wait until they are actually capable of putting up a fight before we declare them a threat to the world order? This is bullying, it is aggression, it is a lust for power and hegenomy not security.
Adaminajad is an asshole, he is to Iran what Bush was to us. He says dumb things and aggravates the world for no apparent reason. He thumbs his nose at diplomacy, speaks with unjustifiable arrogance and has contempt for his own people speaking out against the bullshit going on before their eyes. One day he will be gone, and another perhaps even worse jerk will take office. You never know because it's democracy, but the fear of the unknown is no justification for war mongering. We have lowered the standards to the point of a hair trigger fed by complicit media sewing fear in our minds.
Iran lied 3 times, how many times did George Bush lie? We been through enough of these wars to know they cost more than any benefit they propose to gain. Whatever security is to be gained is lost in instability and future consequences. We can't win this way so let us stop it now and work toward constructive peace. Let the world put sanctions on Iran until we see far greater freedom in that country not an end to nuclear enrichment. Dare we say the same for all nations actively oppressing their populations with violence and terror.
