The Sunday shows mostly focused on Afghanistan and Iran this weekend, but Kansas Rep. Todd Tiahrt (also a 2010 Senate hopeful) and Tennessee Sen. Bob Corker managed to unfurl some pretty wild claims.
So to recap:
- According to Tiahrt, the town hall protests were all about the public option which he still believes is an unpopular proposal.
- According to Corker, if health care reform is passed using reconciliation, it will "rip apart" our nation.
- According to Corker, President Obama's speech before the joint session destroyed bipartisanship (somewhere, Joe Wilson is jealous).
Also, according to both, the public option is a government takeover of the health care system. Put differently, they've either never heard of Medicare, or think it should be disbanded.
