One of the drawbacks of working for a medical device manufacturer is that it seems that our devices are sometimes maligned for being too expensive or too complicated. I've often wondered if you (or a loved one) has a life or limb saved if you'd still apply that criticism?
To top this off, a friends son (~15 years old) lost a classmate just a few days ago when the child succumbed to H1N1. While the overall H1N1 mortality rate is still low, people are dying - perhaps needlessly.
Apparently one of the more imposing devices that my company designed and manufactures is saving lives for patients that are severely compromised by the H1N1 flu virus.
Since this bed was introduced in 2003 several thousand individuals are alive that without this kinetic therapy would not be. Every single time I hear/see a patient talk about being alive because of this bed, I tear up because I had about ><that much to do with its design. Regardless of that teeny bit of involvement, I know that I contributed to saving an individual's life. And that does feel good. Every. Single. Time!</p>

So... if you know of someone that needs critical pulmonary care, please make sure that the family and doctors are aware of this medical device that can have a positive outcome when nearly all hope is otherwise lost.

Disclaimer - I am not making any medical claims nor am I advertising this device for any personal or corporate gain. Its simple really, I help develop this life saving device and there are now two easily accessible stories that indicate that some people suffering from severe H1N1 infection may have a positive outcome if they are put on this rotating bed.
