After watching the vote on the Rockefeller amendment in the Senate Finance Committee, I contacted all 5 "democrats" who opposed it as well as Senator Snowe.
I then wrote a letter to the DSCC asking them to remove me from their mailing list as I will only contribute to individual candidates who support true health care reform. It occurs to me that we are all constituents of the DSCC and DCCC, and millions of letters and phone calls to them would have a much greater effect than letters to individual senators.
A boycott of the DNC, DSCC, and DCCC, will put pressure on our loyal Democrats to put pressure on the cowardly democrats. As a New Yorker, I will work to primary the 5 "democrats" who opposed the public option, but will contribute to individual Democratic senators who reflect my values.
Letting the committees know this accomplishes two purposes. It lets them know that I am still a loyal Democrat who supports a progressive agenda, and that as one person I can only target a limited number of races, and that many, if not most, of my contributions will go to primary opponents.
Obviously this strategy will also put additional pressure on Democrats facing tough races to have their more conservative colleagues support cloture if not true reform.
