Well, no new opening song yet! Tonight's guests are expected to be Jenna Elfman and Don Irrera -- but with Craig you just never know for sure what could happen.
This week I'm down in coon country -- Louisiana and Arkansas. Being from the upper midwest, I'm never very comfortable outside of my natural habitat, but I feel most especially out of place in the south, where somehow I just don't "get" the culture. Worse yet, I'm here with colleagues who believe that they owe the powerful and mighty corporation that we work for every ounce of their free time, so we leave as a group early in the morning when it's still dark, and arrive back at the hotel when night has fallen. Since we're not in winter yet, that's some mighty looong days.
I was whining about it to my brother earlier this evening and he just pointed me to the writings of one Robert Sapolsky, who wrote a book called Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers.
I think my brother is trying to tell me something.
Thank goodness for Malinky2Stoatir over at YouTube who lets me get my daily dose of Craig Ferguson and the Late Late Show even while away from home and working mofo long hours. Here is last night's opening sequence and monologue. On a day as awful as today has been, I NEED all the laughs I can get. (And what's with that darned East Cleveland mayor?)
In closing, let me quote Professor Robert Sapolsky:
"What's the punch line here? Physiologically, it doesn't come cheap being a bastard 24 hours a day."
