What a load of crap:
Arguing that the town hall forums of August have “changed the direction” of the health care reform debate, Sen. Charles Grassley (R-Iowa), said Thursday that he nonetheless expects a bill to pass before Christmas — though it “may be kind of miniature to what we’re talking about.”
Grassley, on the front lines of the year’s thorny health reform debate, has been impressed by the larger-than-usual public gatherings that have stolen headlines throughout the month, referring to them Thursday as “democracy in action.” Still, the Gang of Six member was quick to point out that the future of health reform hinges on the collective experience of Congress, not his alone.
Really, Chuck? I thought we saw "democracy in action" last November when more than 125 million Americans voted, not when a few hundred extremists that the media chose to highlight screamed at town hall meetings.
And because he hadn't peddled enough garbage for one article, Grassley added:
“But I believe [the bill] will be a little more scaled down than what we were originally thinking when we left for August summer break.”
Considering that Grassley and his boys have opposed every aspect of real health care reform since the debate began, what else does he want to scale down? How many days a week seniors get their medications?
It's time to pull the plug on Grassley, the "gang of six," and this delusional dream of bipartisanship. How much lying, hate-filled, violent rhetoric do the Republicans need to direct towards the President before he gets the message that they have absolutely no desire or intention of working with him on health care reform or anything else?
It's time to step up and govern.
