To me, Daily Kos is a place of healing. Everyday I deal with people who couldn't give a damn about what this world is coming to. Except for my inner family who put up with it. But like many other users of this site, Daily Kos has become some sort of addiction.
I wouldn't know shit if I never came here, I'd be some teabagger screaming at the top of my lungs about shit I don't understand.
Hmm, there's a lot of shit I don't understand.
I don't understand how real journalist follow blogs, we are real people casting them aside because they aren't doing their jobs. I haven't heard a news segment yet not mention a story without some blog, (whether it here, or TPM, or Raw Story, or HuffPost, or AP, Reuters). Some of those are online news sites, but they are online only and any one person can join and post there if they liked.
I also don't understand how racist people can continue denying the fact that they are racist.
Or how CEOs and other top financial employees can fuck up at the expense of the country.
Is it because the Bush years drained us, Americans as a whole, to the brink of moral depravity?
Where the hell are my answers? Well on these blogs of course, so many people here of so many different stripes, yet like a real community, we all strive for a better tomorrow. We all strive to correct the wrongs of the past and the present, as they happen. Some people think that they add nothing of value by posting diaries and having people sign petitions and organize and protest.
But would you rather be doing nothing?
Would you take back everything you have learned here because you think it won't have any impact?
Even receiving HR's is something to be remembered, because I believe everything happens for a reason. I feel that today would be completely different if it were not for blogs like DK that drew attention to the real human suffering in the world. To the real injustices that we as humans face every single fucking day.
We can't catch a break, yet we still manage to make it to this site and try to alleviate anxiety's about tomorrow. There are so many users here, I believe that if we really could organize like the teabaggers, then the MSM just couldn't ignore us.
We have loads of rich liberal, progressive, and democrats, yet we can't seem to be as cohesive as we were the day of Barack Obama's inauguration. Imagine if those same crowds were there for HCR, we'd have single payer right now.
But in spirit, we do not need rich people to fund our events, because like B.O said, we are the change we have been looking for.
We are right here, fuck all of these so called factions that litter Daily Kos, that protect each other from people who don't think the way they do.
Whether you like it or not, we are all in this together.
More Power To You!
So to all of the people of Daily Kos . . . thank you.
Update as of 4:16 am in Alaska: I'm gonna hit the sack. Have to take my wife to work in, about, 2 hours. Just enough sleep to come back and check out the other comments I may miss out on.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for making Daily Kos what it is!
