Every now and then, a tragic "accident" (as Ayn Rand Paul would say) happens that illustrates just how toxic - and deadly - teabagger rhetoric can be when put into action.
The long and short of this story is a Census taker comes to a man's home and the man states he will not fill it out and points a firearm at the Census worker. After the Census worker reports this to his supervisors, the police go to the man's house whereupon they are threatened by both the man and his wife. According to the report, she points the shotgun at the police in a threatening manner and they return fire, killing her.
Senseless death
Of course, this scenario is eerily reminiscent of CNN's Erick Ericskson's sicko fantasy about whipping out his shotgun when the Census taker came to his door:
"What gives the Commerce Department the right to ask me how often I flush my toilet? Or about going to work?" I'm not filling out this form. I dare them to try and come throw me in jail. Pull out my wife's shotgun and see how that little ACS twerp likes being scared at the door."
There isn't much else to say, other than there is a certain segment of irrational, anti-government folks out there in such a lather willing to threaten government workers and the police. Don't think for a second that these folks weren't inspired by the crack pots on the right who have been advocating exactly this kind of reaction for months. Of course, CNN and those that incite for ratings will just shrug and feign ignorance.
Sickening.
