Sir Mark Kirk told people he would support the jobs bill that would save 160,000 of jobs AND make sure our kids had a minimal number of teachers this fall.
Here's Obama talking about it.
But Premier Kirk says he was shocked, shocked to discover that the bill wasn't deficit neutral. And that it had tax increases to make it deficit neutral. Or something.

Bishop Kirk's inability to come up with an even consistent excuse for flip flopping is easily explained: It's a good bill but the republican leadership thinks opposing everything is good politics.
And that's where Alpha Quadrant Commander Kirk is. Even where he knows that a bill is a good bill, he's going to ditch his consituents and himself in order to kiss ass on the worst instincts of the republican party. And then lie about it. How's his promise to repeal the health care bill going? Even his dumb ideas are lies.
From Alexi Giannoulias campaign:
"After today's vote it is clear that Congressman Kirk didn’t just lie about being a teacher, he lied about supporting them," Giannoulias said, referring to a news report that Kirk had embellished his experience earlier in life as a nursery school teacher. "I am stunned that he would vote against an emergency bill to keep teachers in the classroom --- a bill that is completely paid for and will save at least 5,700 teaching jobs right here in Illinois."
