A Boeing 747-400 freighter owned by UPS has crashed near a Dubai highway. Eyewitness’s described a scene of devastation shortly after witnessing the plane crashing near a highway, Emirates Road at about 8PM local time.
The plane took off from the Dubai International airport, headed to Cologne, Germany. It crashed minutes later in a sparsely populated area about 12 miles form the the airport. Early reports have indicated that two crewmember’s bodies were pulled from the wreckage. (Note: Standard crew for this aircraft is two cockpit crew members.)
Vehicles were also on fire, as a massive explosion was sparked during impact.
Details are sparse at this time. It is possible given the description of vehicles on fire that there are more injuries/casualties.
