This new vile ideological purity coalition, of baggers and lefty's is a epic fail for the people of this country, the sick people.
Nobody cares about them. Obama being the pragmatist he is, is trying to pass a bill with the Senate and House he's got. Do I want more, hell yes, but passing this bill doesn't mean that it is all over and can't be improved, built on. Pass it and then start fighting for more.
Teddy Kennedy is rolling over in his grave. Over at HP, there is insanity, if idiots could fly, it would be an airport. And I want to say to Arianna, Jane kiss my fat white ass!
Ted Kennedy would support this bill, I know it. In 1971, after fighting for health care reform since almost the beginning of his career, Nixon offered him a compromise: Nixon would mandate that all employers cover all of their employees, the federal goverment would subsidize the lower-paid workers who can't afford it. He also said he would put health care clinics in schools for children.
After loud protests and pressure from liberals, who would only accept, Single Payer , he turned it down. He said later that it was the biggest political mistake in his career. THAT WAS 39 YEAS AGO. Clinton couldn't get a bill out of the House at all.
If this bill is killed it is the end for millions of sick people. The stress of fighting a disease with no insurance, no job, too sick to work, losing their home.
Walk a mile in my shoes, because obviously you have insurance, a home, a job. So the purity trolls on the left can celibrate with the insurance companies, the baggers, Grover Norquist and Phyllis Schaffley and the GOP! They won, and sick people with no insurance, won't get coverage,or who get their test results that say cancer will get purged, even with insurance go bankrupt, the people who cannot get coverage because they had Lyme disease (like my husband) or who have a auto-immune disease (like me)will still be desperate for help with their treatment.
Exausting their life savings and retirement funds, just to survive or maybe not. They don't do chemo in the emergency room.
Senator Kennedy for years pushed and pressured to raise the minimum wage. He finally got a watered-down version of the bill passed, not what he wanted but it passed. As he stood on stage with his colleagues who worked hard to get a bill passed, with cheering and clapping he turned to George Miller and said: "Tomorrow we submit a bill to raise the minimum wage!"
People need this bill now, not 39 years from now. You could be me at anytime. Pass this bill and help people live to fight another day.
