Rant follows:
I posted a comment that, at least I feel, needs a bit more attention.
It's probably too short to qualify as a diary, but it is certainly heartfelt. I hope you can take my comments in that vein.
FIX OUR POLITICS.
- Our politicians are paid by the very people and corporations who want favors. Nothing good can come from that.
- Our legal system is a mess. We pass laws to prevent people from breaking laws that already exist. We have "zero tolerance" for things that hurt no one and eliminate regulation of practices that destroy the global economy. How smart is that?
- Insurance companies collect premiums that pay executives whose sole job is to deny payment of the benefits for which they collect premiums. That's smart?
- Our bankers collect deposits that they use to manipulate the stock market in order to make profits that pay them handsomely, while ignoring the credit needs of the very people from whom they collect deposits. Doesn't that seem a bit self-destructive?
- We don't manufacture anything anymore. Why? Because businesses can't get the credit to start up and they can't pay for the insurance they're required to carry. That causes us to buy our shoes and clothes from China because we're too lazy or stupid to make the stuff ourselves.
Is there some way we could be more dumb? I'm sick of watching us march to the music of the "stupid" band. When does it stop?
