Bishop, rook, king, and queen get away scott free. It is nice to know someone is getting caught with their hand in the cookie jar. But why does it always have to be the ones on the bottom rung?
More after the break.
The FBI press release today has a tidbit of justice.
Theresa Russell, 40, of Pleasanton, Texas, pleaded guilty in federal court in San Antonio. According to court documents, from January 2004 through October 2004, Russell was deployed to Logistical Support Area (LSA) Anaconda, a U.S. military installation near Balad, Iraq. As part of the plea, Russell admitted that from April 2004 to February 2005, she received more than $30,000 in cash from John Rivard, a former major in the U.S. Army Reserves. Russell admitted that she knew the money she received from Rivard was the proceeds of bribery.
What I note are three reasons why this is a persecution story. One this defendant is female and just like Abu Ghraib easy pickings from a military standpoint. The next issue is that both defendants in this drama were in the reserves, don't want to show any regular army solders are just as dirty.
And the top reason for this to be a whitewash There are no upper echelon individuals involved. Do you really think we believe no one higher than major was responsible for sending pallets of cash assessed to be in the billions of dollars range to Iraq?
Yes it is possible to subvert the contract process but shouldn't we be better served going after those in the position to cost this countries taxpayers millions and billions of dollars. I for one would be happy to see some serious effort put forth to get those that have no patriotism in the face of cash out of our military.
