Just watched the re-broadcast of the President's talk with the Republicans today. I must confess to having lost some of my enthusiasm for Mr. Obama during the past year. The fire, honesty, and patience I witnessed have rekindled my passion.
I'm not pleased that Gitmo is still open. I don't like that some number of "terrorists" being held there will apparently be held in perpetuity without trial.
I don't like the re-authorization of the patriot act.
I think the dawdling on health care is criminal.
I have mixed feelings about escalating the conflict in Afghanistan (if you aren't confused, you don't understand the problem)
I think that reforming the industries that got us into the financial crisis may be a lost opportunity because it was delayed.
I'm not happy that Senator Lieberman has managed to get so much attention and seems to have relished derailing constructive efforts on behalf of the people.

All these things conspired to disappoint me. I was doubting that things could be different. I was losing hope.
The State of the Union address, and now this candid exchange with the Republicans have fired me up. Barack Obama is a very smart guy, and I think he is trying to represent the interests of the country.
Barry, I'm sorry I strayed. Please forgive me. If you keep telling it like it is and let me know what you need me to do, I'll hold up my part. I'll still be looking at what you do critically, I know I won't like it all, but you have regained my trust. Forgive me.
