A few days ago, an unidentified group put up a billboard in Grand Junction depicting President Obama as a terrorist, gangster, Mexican bandit and stereotypical gay man. Well, after numerous complaints, the sign owner took it down.
The sign along an Interstate 70 business loop in Grand Junction drew criticism from local Republicans and Democrats.
Doris Downey, owner of J&S Fence Co., where the billboard was erected, said the sign's presence was a major disruption to her business.
"It was hard for my trucks to get out and hard for customers to come in," Downey told the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel hours after the sign was taken down Friday morning. "I defend the freedom of speech people have to put up the sign, but I have to say I’m thrilled it’s gone."
Grand Junction is one of the reddest areas of Colorado, so it's pretty telling when both the local Democratic and Republican Party chairs denounced the ad.
The artist, Paul Snover, says he isn't allowed to tell who paid for it. Again, pretty telling when people in such a red county don't have the guts to disclose who paid for an anti-Obama ad. Maybe because even blood-red areas have standards.
Update: Elwior mentioned in the comments something I didn't notice earlier--the caption had bullet holes in it. That makes an already disgusting ad even more disgusting.
