What Are You Working On is a community diary series for all things crafty, in a variety of mediums and techniques.
You may volunteer to guest host by signing up at this yahoo group, which I check from time to time. Also by joining this group, you will receive one email a week when the diary is posted.
If you're not sure how to write a WAYWO, there are some suggestions ;-)
I will be the first to admit it. I am an impatient knitter.
I will also be the first to admit that I spend way more time looking for patterns than I do actually knitting them.
Another confession. Even though I have been knitting for 25 years, I am still only comfortable with the knit and purl stitch, and rarely together. This goes back to being not only impatient, but chatty, which makes patterns very difficult to stick to. As a result, I have made many projects that can be made from rectangles, such as scarves (with fancy trim at least!), ponchos, shirts, and baby blankets(big ones take too long). Right now I am working on a fun wrap from Vicki Howell's blog, and it is a pattern with a stitch that I have never done, so I am very proud of myself for at least attempting it. :) I have a bunch of yarn, and this seemed like a great project to start using it up.
They say that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and I consider my 9 year old daughter and I to be a fine example. I taught her to knit about 2 years ago, and she has started about 6 or 7 projects but has yet to finish one. She either gets tired of the yarn, or frustrated by her mistakes, or just too impatient to finish it. Yesterday, we had one of our coolest days since the demise of summer, and we had our town's homecoming parade to attend. It was in the low 50's, but breezy, and we just were not mentally ready to break out any winter gear. If only we had small neck warmers to keep the wind at bay. ::sigh::
Wait a minute - we could make some!
So this morning. we combed Raverly for an easyish pattern for me that I could use to make Sophia a small scarf out of some yarn that I got passed down from my mom. Success! Next, we found some yarn that Sophia liked so she could make herself a skinny scarf to wear as a fashion accessory.
Hard at work...
So here we are, both working on yet another project, and we both have a goal of finishing it today. We still have a couple of hours left, only time will tell!
Soooooooooooooooooo, what are you working on!!
