Twitter, the international cocktail party that never stops. Perfect for chit-chat, idle gossip, rumors, and sometimes news. Speak your mind in 140 characters.
Limit doesn’t allow for much depth or content – the perfect venue for making a political superstar out of a mean girl. Hit and run politics, using fear, lies to divide.
Lack of depth or truth never hurts in DC politics or the MSM. Too bad Twitter can’t allow for fancy pageant walkin’. But Twitter format may be a good prep for NaNoWriMo.
I read Palin was angry with Joe Miller for dissing her after she worked an entire afternoon on a tweet supporting his campaign. That’s 25 characters (∼5 words) /hour.
She wrote Going Rogue in 6 months? Working 6 hrs/day, 5 days/week would yield 3,600 words. At standard 250 words/page yields 14 pages. Who wrote the other 418 pages?
Somehow I doubt SP will take the NaNoWriMo challenge this year. Even if she did, could you imagine her finishing it? That leaves the field wide open for you.
If you don’t know (or don’t remember), NaNoWriMo celebrates National Novel Writing Month by encouraging budding authors to write a novel. Who can enter? Anyone - you!
NaNoWriMo – writing one 50,000-word novel from scratch (no recycling old essays) in one month – is Nov. 1 through Nov. 30. Sign up at http://www.nanowrimo.org/
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over craft, NaNoWriMo is for everyone who has thought about writing a novel but been scared away by the time and effort involved.
ONLY output matters in NaNoWriMo -- all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.
You’ll write a lot of crap, force yourself to write intensely, with permission to make mistakes. Skip endless editing. Just create. Build without tearing down.
In 2009, more than 165,000 participated; more than 30,000 crossed the 50K finish line by the midnight Nov 30 deadline, Start the month a mechanic, finish it a novelist.
Sign up! It’s free, it’s fun! Start on the road to novelist stardom with NaNoWriMo’s Ten Easy Steps to Participation at: http://www.nanowrimo.org/...

We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations by other Kossacks. So when you find a comment that enlightens, entertains, or encourages, send it to:
topcomments at gmail dot com.
Comments should get to the inbox by 9:30 EST to be included that day (but we will carry over later ones). Don’t forget to include your Dkos screename, a link to the nominee, and a brief comment about why you think it is a Top Comment.
Tonight’s Top Comments. . . .
From Ed Tracey:
From this diary from Its the Supreme Court Stupid about the death of former JFK adviser Ted Sorensen at age 82: Fonsia wrote of his being in ill health due to a prior stroke – yet still introducing then-candidate Obama by saying, "I may not be able to see, but I have better vision than the president."
From sardonyx:
After mdmslle innocently asks SotteVoce about the use of "enthusiasm-gap-wise" in a comment, FiredUpInCA tells her where she'll be able to find it on November 3.
goatchowder may not be made for these times, but writes a thoughtful comment regardless.
From me:
Muskegon Critic explains theimportance of Strewart's rally for Dems and glitterscale extends the discussion with some good points about the MSM in They Really Don't Get It. They Don't Get the Daily Show..
liberaldregs makes a powerful point about the media in general and the LA Times in particular in Dennis Kuchnich's diary.
fla1sun points to an important resource in the struggle for clean elections and sc kitty supplies another great link in Laurence Lewis' excellent Suppressing the Vote.
Sura 109 reminds us this is the anniversary of the sinking of the USS Reuben James, immortalized in song by Woody Guthrie.
rktect makes a grea comment explaining the use of Sacrfed Geometry and starting a fascinating thread that includes Egyptian unit fractions and how ancient geometry has determined who has political standing. Caution: science content, but you don't need to be a math genius to enjoy it and learn a lot.
From anonymous:
Alaska native frsbdg lives up to his sig line: I'm tired of pretending that 'stupid' is a virtue, uncorking a righteous rant on Joe Miller. It is liberally laced with "cleaned up" F.U.s, but there is no doubt about what he (and many Alaskans) think about both Miller and the Twitter Queen.
