Whew. This is a relief.
Slow ticket sales have bumped Sarah Palin's appearance next week in Jacksonville to a smaller venue.
"An Evening of Hope with Sarah Palin" was moved from the 2,936-seat Moran Theatre to the 609-seat Terry Theatre. Both theaters are part of the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts.
The event is a fundraiser for Heroic Media, a faith-based non-profit group that helps women facing unexpected pregnancy. It is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26.
Mark Nelson, Florida director for Heroic Media, said the event was moved to the Terry Theatre because there weren't enough tickets sold to hold it in the larger Moran.
"We would rather have a packed theater than a theater that's not so packed," Nelson said.
On top of that, it was just announced that the Miami stop on the Sarah Palin Tour has been "postponed due to a scheduling conflict".
Word.
So they had to cancel her show in Miami, but now we return to Jacksonville.
This is a comment posted by Jaxpagan:
There is a third theatre in the Times Union Center - The Jacoby Hall, where our symphony plays. 1800 seats, or a bit over half the size of the Moran. They dropped her right down to the Terry, which -- as an example -- will this month host "Bellydance Superstars". And it's not just scheduling -- the Florida Theater seats about 1900, and she ain't going there, either. Point of fact, the Terry is the smallest venue I know in Jax, short of taking the stage on open mike night in Brewsters Pub.
Sarah Palin makes my head spin. I cannot imagine how anyone could take her seriously as a politician. I hope, hope, hope that she runs for president in 2012 for the entertainment value and for the gutting of the GOP that would follow.
But alas.
She can't sell tickets anymore, even at a discounted price.
I can't get to flickr from this computer to host these, so I will have to provide links to a few screenshots before they get taken down:

Those came from sflaconservative.com and they are hilarious. Discounted tickets "TO BE PICKET UP AT WILL CALL" were not enticing enough to pack the house.
In fact, there were not enough tickets sold to pay her way to Miami.
