Top reasons to vote against Ron Johnson:
- His economic theories. Trickle down economics hasn't worked. The rich have gotten richer while most people have seen lower wages, poorer working conditions, and fewer job opportunities. Why would we send someone to Washington who wants to try it again?
- His misleading campaign. Ron Johnson is not a self made man who understands the market. He joined his brother-in-law's company and got most of his revenue from his father-in-law's company. If government doesn't create jobs, why does he want to go to Washington? Oh yeah, to support trickle down economics.
- His religious views. Why would I vote for someone who doesn't think churches should be held liable if they transfer a known sex offender to a new parish without telling anyone?
- His lack of substance. He is trying to buy the election without actually saying anything. He continues to dodge debates and reporters.
- He would empower other Republicans. Another Republican in the Senate means Mitch McConnel and Jim Demint will have more power.
- His opposition to stem cell research. Wisconsin is the home of stem cell research in this country. Ron Johnson's views on stem cells will be bad for research and our economy.
- His objectivist philosophy. Atlas Shrugged is his guiding book. This means he favors economic value over all other values. Economic value is important, but it shoudn't trump all other values in our society.
- His view of climate change. While there are all sorts of natural causes of global warming, our excessive use of fossil fuels has put a lot of carbon in the air. Fossil fuels are necessary for now, but the future will depend on clean sustainable forms of energy.
- His partisanship. In his Madison tea party speech, Ron Johnson said liberals only like free speech if you are saying something they agree with. This is something Glenn Beck would say. If Ron Johnson is so in favor of free speech and democratic debate, why won't he do more interviews and agree with Russ Feingold's request to have six debates?
- His statements on trade agreements. Ron Johnsons seems to think that trade agreements must be supported with no critical thinking or legislating. He says the "creative destruction" of the trade agreements are unfortunate, but necessary. He must not realize that his job as Senator would be to make sure trade agreements are not written to unfairly screw over Wisconsin citizens. Yes, the market can be destructive, but that doesn't mean we have to lower our standards or allow China to continue manipulating their currency.
First debate is Friday night. Go Russ!
