Nazi standing next to the man in the blue uniform in the middle.
From The Atlantic:
Iott, whose district lies in Northwest Ohio, was involved with a group that calls itself Wiking, whose members are devoted to re-enacting the exploits of an actual Nazi division, the 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking, which fought mainly on the Eastern Front during World War II. Iott's participation in the Wiking group is not mentioned on his campaign's website, and his name and photographs were removed from the Wiking website.
Iott, a member of the Ohio Military Reserve, added, "I've always been fascinated by the fact that here was a relatively small country that from a strictly military point of view accomplished incredible things. I mean, they took over most of Europe and Russia, and it really took the combined effort of the free world to defeat them. From a purely historical military point of view, that's incredible."
The Atlantic's article is worth a read. http://www.theatlantic.com/...
There's not been a lot of polling on this race. Convention wisdom is that incumbent Democrat Marcia Kaptur will hold this seat. Given that here opponent likes to dress as an SS officer this seems a likely assumption. There is a larger issue here though.
Take a good look at Mr. Iott. This IS the face of the TEA Party. This is what we are fighting against, and we are loosing. In Germany fear and economic depression gave rise to the Nazi Party. Today our politics has become the politics of fear and hatred. The idea that there are not enough resources to go around and that things would be better for my family if those others were simply left to suffer, and possibly die. Death is not an overstatement when we are talking about things such as health care or food assistants. The face of darkness walks in the light of day in America and it is the duty of all right thinking people to oppose it. Get out the vote.
