As we all know here, election zero hour is quickly approaching. Who knows what kind of country we'll wake up to on Wednesday morning, but I'll jump off that bridge when we get to it. Phooey on polls & pundits; it's time to let the voters decide. So, in the spirit of the day, I'm going to pepper some campaign ads throughout the diary - some real...some "entertainment." BUT, before going any further...
in an update I'm sure Mr. Ginsberg would sincerely appreciate, ;D
Y'all remember this weiner?! HA!
Let's chat up just a couple "this day in history" items. On this date in 1512, Michelangelo's paintings on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel were first exhibited to the public. Yea, that Michelangelo was a jack of all trades & good at them; kind of makes ya' wanna barf, yes?! ;D And, happy 68th birthday to Larry Flynt! So as to not take this diary into the NC - 17 realm, we'll skip pictures & videos, OK? :D
Let's Countdown - with another ad! {hee...hee...hee}
#5 "Voting Right" AKA "The Lost House on the Left?" AKA "Tempest from a Tea Pot" AKA "The Message from Voters" AKA "WHY?" - Dig the "Kos Orange" tie on Keith – a live & in person Keith tonight! ;D The average party in power loss of seats in the House is 25; me thinks tomorrow’s total may be higher. I’d love, love, LOVE to be wrong on that score! A recent poll indicated that registered voters would prefer the generic Dem to the generic GOBP candidate by around 4 or 5 points. The numbers for LIKELY voters, however, well...we just won’t go there right now. Mitchie McConnell predicted a "good day" for Senate GOBP candidates tomorrow, but said GOBP needs to take 10 races for him to go from Senate Minority Leader to Senate Majority Leader. THAT, I don’t think will happen. Hell, I’ll be tickled pink if my fair state’s seat DOESN’T get called for Coats 5 minutes after the polls close around here!
OK, going to veer kind of sort of off – topic here because I need to get something off my figurative chest. Keith, to his credit, is really pushing people to get out & vote tomorrow; tonight, I believe his phrase was along the lines of "get off their butts & vote." BUT, Keith has said publicly that he doesn’t vote; he said it on his View appearance a year or 2 ago. If tomorrow’s election is so important, will Keith go vote tomorrow? I know it’s none of my business, and this is still a semi – free country, but some consistency between rhetoric & action would be nice. OK, venting over...feel free to flame me in comments if you wish. The final outcome of the Senate make – up could be a long damn time in coming because of...yep, you guessed it – ALASKA! Y’all thought the recount in MN to get SENATOR (suck on it, BillO!) Franken in there? Ya’ ain’t seen NOTHIN’ yet! Joe Miller’s unfavorable numbers in AK are 59%?! $HIT! Even by my admittedly – weak math skills, that’s a majority, yes? I thought Patty Murray’s race was more in the bag. Senator Reid’s race may not be decided until the wee wee hours of the morning, too. Here’s Howard Fineman. According to Howard, Dems who have run campaigns for a long damn time are NOT confident about tomorrow – especially in the House. Rep. Frank might be in trouble?!
$HIT! Howard also chatted up a fubar in "messaging" from this White House about what they HAVE accomplished. Gee, and who can we blame for THAT? The guy running for mayor of Chicago, that’s who! GGGggggggRRRRrrrrr.... If the Dems fare as badly tomorrow as some expect them to, "conventional wisdom" will say that this country rejected President Obama’s agenda as being "too liberal." Yea, that HCR bill was "too liberal." Not immediately suspending military discharges pending an investigation of DADT was "too liberal." The economic recovery package was "too liberal." Need I go on?
Gov. Doc Howard Dean is in studio to chat tomorrow; the first words out of his mouth, to paraphrase, were, "It’s the economy, stupid!" Whiney @itch GOBPers haven’t helped, either, plus – beating him to the punch on THIS score – "senior White House leadership" AKA...well, you know. No need to speak his name. Early voting in OH is apparently running heavily on the Dem side? Well, let’s not get too excited about that. A woman in MN was having a $hit fit because Bat$hit Bachmann wasn’t on her ballot, but she didn’t live in said Bat$hit’s district?! Oh boy... And, now, we hear from the late great Dennis Hopper! :D
#4 "Obstruct Thinking" AKA "The New Abnormal" - Well, too much won’t change in the Senate because things didn’t change in the Senate when the Dems had a SUPER majority. Nothing got done then; nothing will get done even if the Dems have a slim majority. No matter what happens tomorrow, the Dems will control the House until January, but TurdBlossom’s little performance – enhanced PAC will CONTINUE to run ads through the lame – duck Congressional session. So, people who are already sick of campaign ads get to watch even more AFTER tomorrow?! $HIT! The 2012 campaign begins on Wednesday – oh goody.
Here’s E.J. Dionne! I’d be all over a bill saluting chocolate! How ‘bout y’all? :D Yea, I’d LOVE for those GWB tax cuts for the ultra – rich to get the kibosh, but even if they get the kibosh in the House, they’ll die a slow & painful death in the Senate. E.J. would also like for DADT to go, unemployment benefits to get nailed down, the DREAM Act, etc. Let’s not hold our breath for ANY of that; call me a cynic. The GOBP will be all hot & bothered to get rid of the estate tax. Whether that fact will provide some negotiation room remains to be seen. And, now for some more jollies & a good transition to an upcoming segment. ;D
** Some guy wearing lavender was caught on tape robbing a house. Um...OK...no mask or nothin’ either. Clearly, this guy is in the MENSA program of robbers. Oh no...there’s a King Tut musical in Egypt! Steve Martin better be getting royalties, dammit!! And, the video for the song, boys & girls!
And, if any F.O.O. did NOT recognize the music, get out of here right...NOW! Just kidding – maybe... ;D Someone crashed into a convenience store in San Jose, CA. **
#3 "Que Sarah Sarah" - The GOBP is already setting their sights on finding a 2012 candidate that’s someone – ANYONE – except Grandma ExGov TurkeyLover! They better watch it, or she’ll be setting her sights from her rifle in a helicopter pointed in their direction. Of course, the spineless GOBP wouldn’t give their names because, if y’all read the recent Vanity Fair article about $aint $arah from Wasilla, that woman can hold a grudge. I thought I could hold a grudge, but I’m an amateur compared to her! She’s also blaming the media for Joe Miller’s tanking. David Corn gets Grandma ExGov TurkeyLover duty tonight. OK, so did David begin the segment basically by saying that $aint $arah from Wasilla $hits in the woods?! HA! She better damn well have her bendy straws with her! ;D
WPITW – Scott Wheeler is buying up all kinds of ad time to spew bull pucky. David Broder wants President Obama to go to war with Iran to boost our economy. The WY Congress critter thinks some of her constituents will kill themselves over the reinstatement of the estate tax. WPITW is getting suspended?! What the spark for??!! $HIT! Well, we may just have to come up with some on our own each night. Will Keith go after us for royalties if we do???!!!
#1 "Restoration Project" - WPITW is going away because people don’t get satire?! DAMMIT! Nearly 250K were on the Mall for the Stewart/Colbert rally on Saturday. OK, so Keith’s dispensing with WPITW because he’s peeved at Jon Stewart? Huh?! Jon Stewart is a c...o...m...e...d...i...a...n; he is not a journalist, and he’d be the first person to say he wasn’t a journalist. Jonathan Alter gets rally duty tonight. So, Keith’s saying that Jon Stewart said there was a "moral equivalence" between FAUX News & MSNBC? O...K...well, I didn’t catch much of the rally Saturday; I was doing stuff for work at home. So, if anyone one of y’all can provide some proof of what Keith is claiming, I’d appreciate it awfully very much. And, no, there is absolutely NO EQUIVALENT between FAUX News & MSNBC. Tony Bennett was the only person to actually say, "Go vote!" the other day? Oye...
