Nevada has the highest unemployment rate, the highest foreclosure rate, and the second highest suicide rate in our nation. In 2006 Nevada’s suicide rate was 19.2 cases per 100,000 residents, which was nearly double the nation’s average of 10.9 suicides per 100,000 people.
Guns were used in 60 percent of the suicides in Nevada.
These are the 2nd amendment remedies of Sharron Angle's spoiled unemployed Americans. These are the people who can't get out to vote for Harry Reid.
Having just spent time filling out the death certificate for my ex-husband and friend, I can tell you the fact that he was unemployed wasn't tracked. When filling out the certificate I was told he could not be listed as unemployed and that I was to give the type of employment he had when he was last working. His death certificate reads Machine Operator.
We moved to Nevada in 1988. There was plenty of work. We lived in Reno, Stead, Carson City and Fernley. We loved the area, the availability of affordable housing and the ease of finding employment. Both of us believed that a good work ethic was all you required in life to succeed. Like fools we thought that an inexpensive home and fifty years of work was what the American dream was all about. We paid into social security and saved a few bucks.
Now that American dream is the AMERICAN NIGHTMARE. Over 50, unemployed and out of luck. Nevada is on the bleeding edge of the trend. Proud adults left to decide between being a burden to others or suicide. How many American's aren't voting for Harry Reid because they decided suicide was the answer? A decision that is becomming more and more popular in times of desparation.
The disposable American worker is the new reality and the choice of disposal is being ignored. What is an individual entitled to after decades of service to American Corporations?
If you could take a little time out of your day to watch this thought provoking video I would appreciate it. It includes my ex-husband, myself and our children. It highlights the story of Dennis Paul Abrams:
He was a machine operator - a factory man. He spent his whole life employed in the factories that made business forms, water pumps, thermoplastic sheeting. After almost forty years as a dependable american worker he was tossed aside and discarded from our society. He managed two years unemployed and over a year with only food stamps to help out. It was obvious he had become very ill, lung cancer? We didn't know. But he was sick, out of money and out of time. Had he called we would have taken him in and helped. But he was a proud man. Yesterday he wrote a note to his children, tied a noose, stepped up on a chair, placed his neck in the noose and kicked the chair out from underneath his feet.
