My letter to John McCain urging him to do the right thing. I won't even try with the other bozo from Az.
I can no longer use the honorific in your title because your action on the repeal of DADT is less than honorable. Like you I have served my country, in my case, spending 28 years in the military. During my time in the military I proudly served with people that I knew, in some cases suspected, were gay. They were some of the finest troops that I had the pleasure to work with and for. Because of DADT they were forced to live a lie. It was an unnecessary burden imposed by fearful and ignorant politicians. I’m sad to say that you have joined that group and for no good reason.
I’ve only been out for a few years but the people I served with didn’t care about my religion, the color of my skin, or my lifestyle when off duty. The only sexual harassment I observed in my time in the military was male on female and one notable case of female on male. After basic training all the showers had stalls even when I was in Kuwait and Iraq.
Please sir, do the right thing and vote to repeal DADT.
Sincerely,
Utrepub
