I'm angry. I'm disgusted. In agreement with most of the diaries here, I feel that the democratic leadership's desire to "compromise" and their inability to message is the reason we lost. I feel like I have no voice.
So, I put this together...
During the Winter of 2008-9, I was scared.
The Economy was in free-fall
A Democratically led Congress passed the "Stimulus"
The U.S. economy has stabilized and is slowly recovering
It received NO Republican Support
"The Stimulus" included a large tax cut.
(You might not have noticed because it decreased your monthly tax withholding...instead of one $800 check.)
Republicans voted AGAINST that tax cut.
In early 2009, GM and Chrysler were broke, millions of jobs were on the line.
The U.S. Government invested in the U.S. Auto Industry
The U.S. Auto Industry is now profitable, and creating thousands of jobs.
U.S. taxpayers are PROFITING from our investment in the auto industry.
Republicans were against investing in the U.S. Auto Industry
Republicans are also against...
Women’s Rights.
Republicans are also against...
Allowing Gays to Serve in the Military.
The Military supports it.
Republicans are also against...
providing tax incentives to help purchase insurance.
Republicans are also against...
ending tax incentives for sending U.S. jobs overseas.
Republicans are also against...
ending insurance denial based on pre-existing conditions..
Republicans are also against...
stopping insurance companies from dropping coverage when you get sick.
Insurance companies gave Republicans 10’s of millions of dollars in 2010 to insure their profits...instead of insuring you.
Republicans are also against...
disclosing donors to shadow organizations that run political advertising.
Republicans are also against...
Protecting Americans from deceptive credit card practices.
Republicans are also against...
the START treaty, which reduces nuclear weapons in the world..
The military supports this treaty.
Former Republican and Democratic Secretaries of State support this treaty.
Republicans are also against...
saving jobs of teachers, firefighters, and policemen.
Republicans are also against...
creating jobs by improving infrastructure, including schools, roads and bridges.
Republicans are also against...
creating millions of science, technology, engineering and mathematics jobs.
Republicans are also against...
providing unemployment benefits to Americans in a time of need.
Republicans are also against...
reducing the deficit by slowing health care cost increases.
But,
Republicans are for...
defunding NPR.
Republicans are for...
massive tax cuts to the rich, adding billions to the deficit.
Republicans are for...
continuing policies that have led to the largest income disparities since the 1920’s.
Republicans are for...
transferring wealth from the poor and middle class to the wealthiest.
What are you for?
