The Palin is not smart. She is shrewd. There is a difference. Sarah Palin is perfectly playing "you can be a little bit pregnant" in the context that she is WAY ahead of the political curve in terms of how to deal with a woman who plays offensive politics nastier than the average male politician but whom on defense immediately falls back on "the victim" by virtue of her femaledom. "I can be mean but for anyone to be mean back to me is misogyny!" Clever. Very clever. Hillary Clinton, a serious politician, while roughing Obama up in the primary of 2008 NEVER played it as clever. Follow me beneath the fold & "refudiate" me in giving the Barracuda a tip of the hat for a strategy that has worked well for her thus far in her illustrious career.
Just as the Republicans did not know how to handle the juggernaut of the Obama Campaign, Democrats and serious Republicans alike, are unsure of how to handle the Sarah Palin phenomena. Republicans were not sure how to attack Obama without sounding "racist". Sarah Palin has given them their perfect "out". Dog whistled racism from a pretty "God fearing" woman ushered in a the same old politics with a brand new strategy. "You can't attack the pretty". Attack them hard but if they attack back, accuse them of sexism. Racism cloaked in Godliness and Prettiness wrapped in the flag. (Check out the # of flags on her jewelry on her new book). Same ol' story in a pretty package-and that IS Sarah Palin. It was Sarah "Barracuda" Palin before John McCain found her, and it is Sarah Palin to this day.
I admired Joe Biden's performance with her in their 1 debate. But if you have any doubt as to my thesis, take a cue from the very 1st thing she did upon coming on stage and shaking his hand, "Can I call you Joe?" She used her sexuality only to try to set him up to attack him later. On the merits, he clearly won the debate. But the Palin plays in pit bull attacks coupled with winky, winky aren't I cute, and how, really HOW are you gonna attack me without looking like you're picking on the pretty woman?
It is a perfect strategy for a society that defers to pretty women. (As a society on whole we do). Perfect. She is banking on no one calling her on the fact that she is clueless because she has perfected female victimhood. This woman throughout her entire political career has used her looks to get her as far as she has gone. She plays the "Hi, I'm a little bit pregnant" perfectly.
I saw Joe and Jill Biden the other night on Larry King. When asked about Sarah Palin he essentially said he didn't underestimate her. Smart man. Now, how to fight the new face of the same ol' political animal?
She won't win the GOP primary. I doubt they offer her the VP position but her ego demands her Tea Party candidacy. This is my hope as this only bodes well for us in 2012. Point of this diary is that we need to recognize Sarah Palin for the original "mean girl" that she is.
