So, I agree that Obama and the 110th Congress have done some pretty good things. I will vote for them over any Republican without a second thought. However, I believe they have failed to provide the change and leadership this country desperately needs.
It is the snarky and demeaning tone of this top rated diary against legitimate critics of Obama that prompted me to write the response below.
I'm happy that the late fees on your credit card are being lowered. However the 26 million (pdf) Americans who are unemployed or underemployed might not care so much. The millions who are about to lose their unemployment benefits probably don't care at all.
It is truly awesome that you will be able to keep your children on your health insurance policy. I hope you can afford to pay for them. There are 50 million Americans out there who can't, and there isn't much hope that premiums are going to become more affordable.
I am also happy your daughter won't be discriminated against in her future job. Good thing she isn't a lesbian.
And congratulations on your company's success. Tell me, has the average salary in the company gone up 8% since they broke their record sales by that much? Outsourcing and destruction of the unions has helped put an end to that. How about your CEO? Did he get a raise? Hopefully if he did, he will at least be taxed on it.
We haven't even discussed oil spills, tar sands, mountain top removal, climate change, war, Guantanamo and indefinite detentions, illegal wiretaps, prosecution of whistleblowers, or the cutting of social programs.
So, sorry if I don't clap loud enough for you. Given the recent election results, it may be time to listen to some of Obama's critics instead of making fun of them.
