While many of my fellow libs are hand-wringing after the successful power-grab by the Tea Party activists and the GOP, I'm calmly settling down to watch the entertainment that will inevitably lead to their downfall. It is one thing to be cheered on by Fox News and the scared, angry individuals that worship their gospel, but it will be quite another matter when they start to trim so-called government fat and attempting to destroy the fledgling health care system and other such fatuous acts.
I will enjoy the arrogant posturing, priceless foot-in-mouth comments, two years of absurd carnival, while the Party of NO slowly devalue their currency to a point where the voting citizenry is primed for a little sanity.
Let's face it, the present bombastic GOP roller-coaster is so much more entertaining than the rather somewhat dull and pragmatic President Obama.
Please tell me that the folks at the helm (such as it is) of the Democratic Party are aware of this, and realize they can bide their time by continuing to be boringly sane, and although I am not prone to religious outbursts, I pray that they don't do anything precipitous or stupid - like pandering to the far right extremists, seeking extra votes by doing exactly what they were NOT elected for.
Nope, my recipe is to just kick back and let the GOP stew at a low temperature for two years in it's own juices until the goose is cooked.
By the time the 2012 elections roll 'round, that segment of the population suffering from collective amnesia - commonly referred to as swing voters - will be mightily tired of Tea Party antics.
There is some precedence for this; President Bill Clinton's second term was not the product of anything the Democrats did, nope. Bill's triumph was due to a public reaction, the exclusive product resulting from an unending stream of vitriol spewing out of the right field. And this time, they'll really pour it on.
So sit back, enjoy the ride, enjoy the carnival. My money's on Obama.
