It is highly unusual; hell, I'll be honest. I NEVER usually begin any day - especially Monday - "in song." Yet, after being awake for about 5 minutes this morning & learning that "indefinitely" is WAY DAMN SHORTER than I feared, I just HAD TO break out in song with this classic! :D
Tomorrow's Countdown diary will be a sparkin' live "Welcome Back, Olbermann!" shindig! I'll bring eats, treats, and champagne. :D The rest of y'all can bring treats, too, and BYOB! There aren't enough happy dance icons in the world to demonstrate how giddy I am. :D :D :D
Let's move onward & upward (or downward, depending on your point of view) to Nov. 8, 2010 SPARK! If any of y'all are having trouble with the ladies or gents, just one quick flight "across the pond" will make all that go away; you'll be Don Juan or Don Juanette before ya' know it! Tea baggers will continue to be the gift that keeps on giving - Yippee or AUGH! And, today's BRILLIANT criminal of the day award goes to a resident of...guess which state...c'mon...take a guess...OK, I'll tell - FLORIDA! That darn social networking can bite one in the butt if you're not careful. ;D
I'll mention just 1 birthday for today; Parker Posey is 42. If you're familiar with the fabulously funny post - Spinal Tap flicks, you already know who Ms. Posey is. If not, shame...shame...shame! ;D
Let's Countdown - 22 hours until Keith makes his triumphant return!
Thomas Roberts gets fill – in duty for 1 more night; I bet he’s thinking "Thank Jeebus!" ;D
#5 "A Tax on the Middle Class" AKA "The Unkindest Cuts" AKA "Feed the Rich" AKA "Lame – Duck Season" - Vibes from the GOBP today seem to indicate they are willing to put a hold on tax cuts for the middle class to preserve the tax cuts for the super – wealthy in our country. People who "spoke" at the ballot box last Tuesday, is THIS what you said you wanted? Seriously?! President Obama really REALLY doesn’t want those super – rich tax cuts to go on. The GOBP, of course, is poo – pooing any notion of compromise – at least publicly. I’m going to briefly don my Carnac hat & predict how this will all go down; I think EVERYONE’s cuts will be somehow extended for a year. How that gets done legislatively considering the Byrd Rule is the $64K question.
Rep. Eric Cantor says he will not go for permanent tax cuts for the middle class but only a temporary extension for the most rich among us. Doesn’t Rep. Cantor qualify as one of the richest among us? I’d wager he does. All this tax shtick might go on into the New Year – letting the tax cuts for EVERYONE expire in the new year. Holy $hit! Did y’all see what the Koch brothers had to say about last week’s election results?
...class – warfare, tax – the – rich ideas were decisively rejected in a national election.
It’s gonna be damn difficult if not impossible to kill this monster, yes?
&^%*$#@! Former budget director under President Reagan, David Stockman, in a nutshell, said the Koch brothers’ argument is bull pucky. Is President Reagan spinning in his grave now? And, look who he skewered in the process – Rep. Mike Pence – HA! David Cay Johnston is back in da’ house. Mr. Stockman doesn’t want ANY cuts to be permanent; fiscally, that makes sense. The tax cuts on the super – rich will cost $700 billion just over the first 10 years; that amount will sky rocket afterwards. If all tax cuts were repealed, the amount of increase would be a few hundred dollars a year for the middle class. The CBO did a study of the most effective way to stimulate job growth; tax cuts for the super – rich scored at the bottom of the list as far as effectiveness. Chris Kofinis gets to talk taxes, too. Chris thinks the message from last Tuesday was that voters wanted politicians to start working & playing well with each other; I’m not so sure about that. I think the message from last week’s election was fear; people will vote against their own self – interests if they are afraid. Another message is ignorance – willful or otherwise – about the accomplishments of this administration in its first 2 years. Chris thinks reason is going to win out?! HA! Golly, Mr. Roberts asked a decent question! He asked Chris if all this tax cut shtick would mean a whole hell of a lot if the economy has made a comeback, President Obama is still popular, etc! And, Chris said it would all mean exactly diddly – poo.
#4 "Weak Tea" - Some GOBP Senators need to get their stories straight about ending earmarks! Senator Waterloo DeMint wants them gone. Mitchie McConnell? Well...not so much. So, what will Senator Waterloo do if all that money stops coming to SC? Some GOBP Congress critters aren’t exactly throwing rose petals in the path of $aint $arah from Wasilla for her part in the bat$hit realm costing the GOBP Senate takeover; Rep. Spencer Bachus is tossing turkey turds in her direction!
The Senate would be Republican today except for states like Christine O’Donnell in Delaware...Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate.
HELLO?! Senator – elect {insert retching noise here} Rand Paul is ready to vote against raising the debt ceiling because he knows the bill will pass anyway. He wants to "send a message." Can I send a message to the "good" Doc – one that’s not FCC approved??!!
David Weigel’s here; long time no see! He hasn’t been suspended, too, has he? ;D Dave thinks tea baggers will be a might bit peeved at the GOBP they voted for back stepping on those spending cuts or whatever. Yea, I’m crying a river at the prospect. Dave thinks that if the GOBP try their level best to fulfill tea bagger spending cut wet dreams, they won’t ride their candidates out on a rail in a few years.
** Hey! Mr. Roberts lifted some of my diary SOP! AAAaaaaaWWWwwwww!!!! Look at the little doggie. And, we go from cute puppies to ugly big hair in Paris. Can we see the little doggie again? A Wheel of Fortune contestant solved the puzzle WITH 1 SPARKIN’ LETTER! She needs to go out & buy a lottery ticket ASAP. **
#3 "60 Minutes" AKA "Midterm Post – Mortem" AKA "Ill of the People" - President Obama shouldn’t have counted on GOBP cooperation on a whole host of other issues IN ADDITION TO health care. He shouldn’t have counted on it after the recovery package vote! President Obama thinks the economy is the main reason Dems bit the big one last week. AND, he admitted to dropping the messaging ball; thank your recent out – going COS for that, Mr. President. President Obama was surprised by the political cost of HCR? Well, if you’d stood up for the public option when 70% of the country was in favor of it, that just might have helped A LITTLE. President Obama put a lot of blame on GOBP obstructionism; well, that was a part of it, too, but not all of it. And, apparently, President Obama is still going to try to work & play well with the GOBP? Yea, that’s done wonders for him so far. What’s that definition of insanity again?!
Some GOBP are still talking defunding HCR – even though President Obama will veto any efforts, and there aren’t enough GOBP votes in the House to override said veto. Here’s Sam Seder. Gov. Tim Pawlenty is playing fast & loose with facts as far as acceptance of HCR coin. And, Mr. Seder is less – than confident that anyone in "the media" will call the GOBP on their blatant hypocritical bull pucky.
#2 "Obama in India" AKA "Obama Abroad" - Security officials in India didn’t want all the pool reporters in some presser, but Robert Gibbs stuck his foot into the fray – literally. President Obama went job – hunting in India? Isn’t that where a lot of American jobs ended up thanks to the Anti – US Chamber of Commerce?! India has a trillion – dollar economy? $HIT! And, Pakistan continues to be a thorn in the works – what a damn shock.
#1 "Oil Rigged" - Federal investigators have released a preliminary report concerning the Deepwater Horizon explosion. Part of that report says there is
No evidence at this time to suggest that there was a conscious decision to sacrifice safety concerns to save money.
Um...yea...OK...how many of these investigators have ties to big oil? Is Tony Hayward doing some of the damn investigating??!! There are going to be 2 days of public hearings concerning the disaster and their report. PBS came to a different conclusion as far as cost cutting versus safety. Yea, I think I’ll believe them. Here’s Bob Cavnar! BP/BS has a l...o...n...g history of cost cutting in favor of profit. No sparkin’ kidding! No one on the commission investigating Deepwater Horizon has any experience in oil & gas? Hell, put me on the commission, too! The commission is full of politicians & academic environmentalists. This commission also doesn’t have subpoena power. Me thinks that decision wasn’t made in a vacuum. Hello? Secretary Salazar?!
