I have an idea that would make the head of the republicans spin.
I do not know if this can be done or not. Why not have the best bill that the Democrats want to pass the House and maybe it already has before the new congress comes in. Stall out everything until Jan.1 when the new congress comes in. Since the bill has passed the House can the Senate use reconciliation to pass the Democrat House bill from the previous house?
I know you can use reconciliation only once in a calendar year and you have to choose wisely when you do this, but this might be the best bet for our side to get what we want. Now the question is can we get Moderate Democrats to go along with such a plan?
For those of you who do not know Reconcilation only requires a simple majority.
Another plan is to have Bernie Sanders behind closed doors to try and drop his filibuster in exchange for filibuster reform. The kind of reform that would stop these stupid 30 hour holds on legislation. I say vote on it, vote on amendements and then vote for final passage. You have 2 votes. If someone wants to filibuster because you can't cut off debate let them debate for 24 HRs a day and lets see how much power Dement and company will have in the Senate then. And say that they can only pass the debate to one other person in a 24 hr period. That means they have to be there in 12 hour shifts. If they leave the Senate floor that ends the debate period. Why not do that and make Filibuster a rare thing like our founders intented it to be.
The Senate Dems can make this right many ways but have to do it with boldness. I do not think they have it in them with Harry Reid as majority leader, but I hope he proves me wrong. Don't think for a minute that if they were in charge they would do this as the repubs have proven that they will do anything to get these things passed. How do you think we got these Tax breaks in the first place George Bush and a Rebuplican Senate used reconcilation to get them through.
If Dems do the same thing to make them expire can you say Karma.
