As the cheering and grandstanding goes on about Bernie Sander's filibuster of the tax cut deal, a conversation of this subject became rather eyeopening for me.
The Democrats really are no different than the Republicans.
It was rather horrifying to realize, but in looking at what this tax cut argument is really about, both sides are horrifically attempting to hold hostage the poor and lower class of our country.
The democrats are holding them hostage demanding a deal to extend Unemployment and other benefits before a vote will be made.
The republicans are holding them hostage seeking the addition of the upper class tax cuts and a few other spending measures bbefore they'll even consider voting.
The only group at the absolute center of this is the current administration, who just wants to ensure people can continue to afford their housing and don't get kicked to the curb in the middle of what's to be one of our coldest winters yet.
What good does it do to stand up and deny people who are already struggling those extra few dollars they need for housing and groceries just to make a stand and go "See, look how terrible the republicans are! You're losing a majority of your low wages because they wouldn't vote the way we wanted them!" Especially when the republicans are going to make the exact same argument, and get away with it too.
Feel free to stand by principle all you wish, but only the poor and the president will suffer for it.
