Enough of letting Congress control the unemployment narrative with their incomplete picture of what type of people aren't able to find jobs. It's time to quit using you as a generic face and a pack of numbers.
On Wednesday 8 - take your job search to Congress.
If you are unemployed and especially if you sense your benefits are drying up, you need to make sure that your name is in front of these elected officials and your history.
Email and Fax your resume to your Senators and Representative. You can also email and Fax your resume to the people that represent an area you're willing to relocate. If you live in the area, you need to take your resume in person to their offices. Drop them off. Also ask for an employment application and fill it out.
The unemployed need to stop letting the themselves be yanked around. You can't let certain people call you lazy and unwilling to find real work. You need to let these people know - they were put in D.C. to find you work and they ought to have a few new positions in their office that are perfect for you.
Might as well bring enough copies of your resume that drop off at each office. You can also hand them out to elected officials as they wander around the building.
Even people who are employed at barely making it jobs should send in their resumes. Flood the offices of Congress with your desire for them to get you a real job and not a quickie Christmas gig. Let them know when they kill benefits, they are ruining your life. Nobody gave you $20 million to apply for you job like they received.
Turn this into a scene from a Jimmy Stewart movie.
It's not like you have some where better to send your resume this week.
