They say "once you go black, you never go back". We'll, I'm not going back.
I will not be voting for Barack Obama in 2012. I will vote for his Democratic opponent.
I suspect many of you will be doing the same. The question is, who will that person be?
Way back in 2008, i was happy to donate money to the Obama campaign. I did so a few times. I even spent election day in Brooklyn at a campaign outpost making calls to voters in Florida. And on Jan 20th i froze my ass of like so many standing on the national lawn as President Obama was sworn in and W flew off in a helicopter.
Since then i have given the man the benefit of the doubt. Yes he's intelligent and well spoken, and we all like his wife and children. Yes there have been some victory's (Supreme Court appointees ect)
But in Dec 2010, that isnt going to cut it. And neither is blaming the Republicans. They are who they are, and have been doing exactly what we expect of them, whether in the minority or majority. I blame myself. I blame myself for having such high interest in Barack Obama that ive missed the red flags.(Robert Gates, Bernake, Geithner, Guantanamo, Afganistan, Iraq, Healthcare.)
I'm not going to rationalize or justify any of his choices to my friends and family anymore, and i'm not going to do it to myself either. I'm also not waiting around.
I put it on par with finding out a spouse or partner isnt telling you the truth and you suspect them of cheating. Instead of therapy and giving them chance after chance, and hoping that things turn around, and eating breadcrumbs, it's time to move out of the house.
I susupect there are many of us here who feel the same way. And no i'm not a concern troll. Ive been a reader and sometimes blogger at Daily Kos for a few years.
But things have to change and I'm not waiting around.
For the good of the Republic, Barack Obama needs to be challenged in 2012, by a strong progressive. Hell, Alan Grayson is fine by me.
I'm sick of eating breadcrumbs and pretending that it's a 3 course meal.
