Tonight Bernie Sanders hinted at a coalition with conservative Republicans to filibuster Obama's deal with the Republicans. Tonight Jim DeMint has announced that he will not vote for cloture on a bill if it contains extensions for the unemployment insurance that "isn't paid for" (apparently he's not worried about paying for the tax cuts).
I'm all for a coalition with wingnuts if it'll kill this thing.
Now check out this comment from the conservative Hot Air blog, which reveals that there are fights on the right between the "abstract idealists" and pragmatists as well.
Oh for Christ’s sake. At the moment the GOP doesn’t control either chamber of Congress or the White House. They had all three until 2006 and couldn’t get these tax rates made permanent then. In January the GOP will only control one of these entities, Obama will have had a month to grow a backbone, and clowns like Demint think they could work out a better deal? ARE YOU F’ING HIGH?
What the Hell, let’s just continue to let the perfect be the enemy of the good.
And they have their purists.
true, but then why compromise with the devil (ie the dems). its time to throw bi-partisanship out the window and take no prisoners...we’re in deep, deep trouble...
So can we coalition with their purists? Can we coordinate with them somehow?
We need a strategy.
